Black broadcloth, velvet cuffs, pocket flaps & band collar w/ gold embroidery, gold buttons stamped w/ eagle beneath "E Pluribus Unum" band, silk moire lining, Ch 36", CF L 19", CB L 36.5", (minor moth damage & light stains on back) very good; t/w 1 paircream silk stockings worn w/ tailcoat, excellent. Bicorn in lot 192 probably worn w/ this. Provenance: William Shimmin b. 1777, Mass, wore these to French or British court on 1830 trip to Europe. Shimmin was McDonogh's son-in-law (see lots 188-191).
