Both white cotton w/ inset poofs & flounced edges: 1 tabby cotton w/ chin ties, (tiny stains) & 1 window-pane cotton w/ "MJ" monogram, (small stains at side) both very good; t/w 2 pair undersleeves, 1 embroidered shawl & 1 1820s embroidered collar.Emily Johnston, 1851-1942, m. Robert W de Forest, 1848-1931, both from prominent NYC blue-blood families. This dress likely belonged to Emily J de Forest's mother or grandmother.
