Off white moire faille w/ pale blue satin brocade, trims of blue chiffon, black velvet & ecru lace, petersham labeled "Beer, Paris", B 44", W 30", L 58"-72", (stains underarms, on sleeves, & skirt, chiffon fragile, possible alterations?) fair. In 1872Emily Johnston, 1851-1942, m. Robert W de Forest, 1848-1931, both from prominent NYC blue-blood families. PROVENANCE: dress likely belonged to EMILY JOHNSTON de FOREST, 1851-1942, or her mother, Mrs. John Taylor Johnston. Both Johnston & de Forest were prominent NYC families.
